Equipment

  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 non-stick skillet
  • 1 Spatula

Ingredients

Salmon Patties

  • 1 lb fresh salmon skinless and boneless, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings and Buns

  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Red onion slices
  • Avocado slices
  • Aioli or preferred sauce

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped salmon, panko breadcrumbs, dill, parsley, garlic, lemon zest, beaten egg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Divide the salmon mixture into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, about 3 to 4 inches in diameter. Place the patties on a tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Refrigerate the patties for at least 15 minutes to help them firm up, making them easier to cook.

Cooking

  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add a little olive oil and place the chilled patties in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  • While the patties are cooking, prepare the burger buns and toppings. Lightly toast the buns if desired.

Serving

  • Place a salmon patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato, red onion, avocado, and your choice of sauce. Cover with the top half of the bun.
  • Serve the salmon burgers hot with your choice of side dishes.

Storage

  • If you have any leftover patties, let them cool completely before storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in a skillet before serving.

Notes

Pro Tips: Use fresh, high-quality salmon for the best flavor and texture. Chill the patties before cooking to help them hold their shape. Avoid over-mixing the ingredients to keep the texture light and airy.
Ingredient Substitutions: For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs. For a dairy-free version, avoid creamy toppings or use dairy-free alternatives.
How to Serve: Pair with sweet potato fries or a green salad. Enjoy with a crisp white wine or light beer.
