  • 1 Tongs for flipping fish

Ingredients

Fish

  • 2 pounds firm white fish fillets such as cod or halibut
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Taco Sauce

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Toppings and Tortillas

  • 8 corn tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Optional: sliced jalapeños avocado slices

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Coat the fish fillets evenly with the marinade and let sit for 15 minutes.
  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.

Cooking

  • Place the fish on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  • On the grill or a skillet, warm the tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
  • In a small bowl, mix together sour cream, lime juice, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper to make the sauce.

Assembly

  • Place a portion of grilled fish in each tortilla, drizzle with taco sauce, and top with cabbage, onions, and cilantro.

Serving and Storage

  • Serve the tacos immediately while the fish is hot, accompanied by your favorite side dishes.
  • Store leftover fish in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently before serving.
