Equipment

  • 1 Large Skillet
  • 1 Mixing Bowl medium
  • 1 Spoon for mixing

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast diced
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated
  • 1/4 cup green onions chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro chopped
  • 1 head of butter lettuce leaves separated
  • 1/4 cup crushed peanuts optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Dice the chicken breast into small, bite-sized pieces. This will ensure even cooking and easy wrapping.
  • Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant. Add diced chicken and cook until no longer pink.
  • Reduce the heat and add sweet chili sauce and soy sauce to the chicken. Stir well and cook for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • While the chicken cooks, separate the butter lettuce leaves and rinse them under cold water. Pat dry and set aside.
  • Place a spoonful of the cooked chicken mixture into each lettuce leaf. Top with chopped green onions, cilantro, and crushed peanuts if desired.
  • Arrange the lettuce cups on a serving platter and serve immediately. Encourage guests to enjoy them fresh for the best texture.

Serving and Storage

  • Store any leftover chicken mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Assemble fresh lettuce cups as needed.
  • Reheat the chicken mixture gently in a skillet over low heat if serving leftovers. Do not reheat the lettuce.
