  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • to taste Salt & pepper
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1 medium avocado, sliced
  • 1 Juice of 1 lime
  • Optional: fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by heating the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil shimmers, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  • Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with chili powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring often, until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  • While the shrimp cook, prepare your tortillas by warming them in a separate skillet or directly over a flame for a few seconds to enhance their flavor and softness.
  • Once the shrimp are ready, squeeze half of the lime juice over them for a fresh burst of flavor, and remove the skillet from heat.
  • To assemble the tacos, place a few shrimp onto each tortilla and add your desired toppings such as shredded cabbage, diced tomato, and avocado slices.
  • Drizzle the remaining lime juice over the assembled tacos and sprinkle with fresh cilantro if using. Serve immediately and enjoy the vibrant flavors.

Notes

Ensure the shrimp are dry before seasoning to achieve a nice sear. Feel free to customize toppings based on your preference; try adding pickled red onions for extra zing. For an extra kick, consider marinating the shrimp for 15 minutes with lime juice and spices before cooking. Leftover shrimp can be stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 days and used in salads or wraps.
