Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 fillets 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 2 Tbsp 2 Tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

Glaze Ingredients

  • ½ cup ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp 1 Tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 Tbsp 1 Tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 green onions 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish) Optional: sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by patting the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and rice vinegar. Stir until the sugar mostly dissolves.

Cooking

  • Heat the olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the salmon fillets skin-side down into the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes until the skin becomes crispy.
  • Carefully flip the salmon fillets over and use a basting brush to apply the brown sugar glaze to the top of each fillet. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes.
  • Check that the salmon has an internal temperature of 145°F and flakes easily with a fork. Remove from heat and let it rest for a minute.

Serving

  • Serve the salmon on a platter, drizzled with any remaining glaze from the pan. Garnish with sliced green onions and optional sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the salmon in the glaze for 30 minutes before cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
