Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet lined with parchment paper
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 Rolling Pin

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Homemade Sauce

  • 2 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings

  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. In a separate bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix yeast mixture into flour and knead until smooth. Let rise in a warm area for 1 hour.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine crushed tomatoes, minced garlic, oregano, chili flakes, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer over low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembly

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F. If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up as well.
  • Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer the rolled dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Spread an even layer of homemade sauce over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle with mozzarella, basil, and pepperoni.

Baking

  • Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese bubbly.
  • Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Slice into 8 pieces and serve hot.

Storage

  • Wrap leftover slices in foil or place in an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
