Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 24 pieces chocolate kisses, unwrapped
  • ½ cup crushed peppermint candies (for topping)
  • for garnish optional additional crushed peppermint

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Beat until fully incorporated.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, portion out the dough and place it on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just set and the centers are still slightly soft.
  • Remove from the oven and press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, sprinkle the crushed peppermint over the cookies.

Notes

For a softer cookie, slightly underbake them. Store cookies in an airtight container for freshness.
