Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 4 fillets salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 2 green onions chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel and season with salt and pepper.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

Cooking

  • Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and ginger.
  • Carefully flip the salmon fillets and pour the honey garlic mixture into the skillet, then reduce heat to medium-low.
  • Let the glaze simmer around the fish for 3-4 minutes, spooning the glaze over the salmon for even coverage.
  • Remove the skillet from heat and drizzle with sesame oil if using. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the salmon in the honey garlic mixture for 30 minutes before cooking. Keep an eye on cooking time to prevent overcooking; salmon is best moist inside. This dish pairs well with jasmine rice or a simple salad, and it can be served warm or at room temperature.
