Equipment

  • 1 Grill preheated to medium-high
  • 1 food processor
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large

Ingredients

Salmon Patties

  • 1 lb fresh salmon fillets
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill chopped
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings and Sauce

  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced red onion
  • Tartar sauce or aioli

Instructions

Preparation

  • Remove the skin from the salmon fillets and cut into small chunks. Place the salmon in a food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped salmon, panko breadcrumbs, egg, dill, lemon zest, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper, then mix until just combined.
  • Form the mixture into four even patties, about half an inch thick. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during grilling.

Grilling

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  • Place the salmon patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  • Toast the burger buns on the grill for a minute or two. Assemble the burgers by placing a salmon patty on each bun and topping with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and your choice of sauce.

Serving

  • Serve the grilled salmon burgers hot, with your favorite sides and beverages.

Storage

  • Store any leftover patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave before serving.
