Equipment

  • 1 large oven-safe skillet for stovetop and oven use
  • 1 Zester
  • 1 Mixing Bowl medium

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 1/2 cups orzo pasta
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp fresh sage chopped
  • 1 lemon zested
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and lemon zest.
  • In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken breasts until golden brown on both sides, about 5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant and the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in the orzo pasta, allowing it to toast slightly. Add chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  • Return the chicken to the skillet, nestling it into the orzo. Pour in heavy cream and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and fresh sage.
  • Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the orzo is tender.

Serving

  • Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional lemon zest and sage leaves.

Storage

  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving.
