Ingredients

For the Cod

  • 4 pieces cod fillets (about 6 ounces each) Fresh cod fillets
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice (or to taste)
  • 2 Tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Optional: lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Season the cod fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until it starts to foam gently.

Cooking

  • Carefully add the seasoned cod fillets to the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  • Once cooked, transfer the cod to a plate and cover it to keep warm. In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and the minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant but not browned.
  • Stir in the lemon juice, then pour the garlic butter mixture over the warm cod fillets.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately with extra lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, consider using ghee instead of butter. Fresh herbs such as thyme or dill can be added during cooking. This dish remains delicious the next day; simply reheat gently in a skillet.
