Equipment

  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 Knife sharp for slicing
  • 1 Baking Dish for chicken

Ingredients

Apple Slaw

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 large apple thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Chicken

  • 2 cups cooked and shredded chicken
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Sandwich Assembly

  • 8 slices of bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine shredded cabbage and thinly sliced apple. Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and season with salt and pepper. Toss everything together until well mixed. Refrigerate the slaw while you prepare the chicken.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Place the chicken in a baking dish and bake for about 25 minutes or until fully cooked. Let it rest before shredding.
  • Once the chicken is cooked, use two forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces. Ensure the chicken is evenly shredded for the best sandwich experience.

Serving

  • Butter one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side, layer the shredded chicken and a generous portion of apple slaw. Top with another slice of bread, buttered side out.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and toast until golden brown on both sides. Serve warm and enjoy.

Storage

  • If you have any leftovers, store the components separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator. Reassemble the sandwiches when ready to eat to keep them fresh and crunchy.
