Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) Optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then incorporate the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using, until evenly distributed.
  • Drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each mound.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and centers are still soft.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Use high-quality chocolate chips for a richer taste. Cookies freeze well; store in an airtight container once cooled. Experiment with a pinch of sea salt on top before baking.
