Equipment

  • 1 Grill or grill pan
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 Cutting board

Ingredients

Chicken Marinade

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried dill
  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts

Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber grated and drained
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill chopped

Wrap Assembly

  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1/2 red onion thinly sliced
  • 1 cup lettuce shredded

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, and dill. Add the chicken breasts, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, mix Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, and chopped dill. Stir until well combined. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Cooking

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade and grill for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing thinly.

Assembly

  • Warm the pita bread on the grill or in a skillet for about 1-2 minutes per side. This helps keep the bread soft and pliable.
  • Lay warm pita on a flat surface. Spread a generous amount of tzatziki sauce on each pita. Layer with sliced chicken, tomatoes, red onion, and lettuce. Fold the pita into a wrap.

Serving

  • Enjoy your chicken gyro wraps fresh off the grill with a side of Greek salad or roasted potatoes.

Storage

  • Keep leftover chicken and tzatziki sauce in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat chicken gently in a skillet or microwave before assembling fresh wraps.

Notes

Pro Tips: Use fresh herbs for the best flavor. Let the chicken rest after grilling to keep it juicy. Ingredient Substitutions: You can use naan instead of pita if preferred. How to Serve: Best served fresh with sides like Greek salad. Storage & Freshness: Store components separately to maintain texture. Make-Ahead Tips: Marinate the chicken overnight for deeper flavors.
