Equipment

  • 1 Grill preheated
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large

Ingredients

Chicken Patties

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

BBQ Sauce

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Optional Toppings

  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 4 burger buns
  • lettuce leaves
  • tomato slices

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Form into four equal patties.
  • In a small saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the sauce is smooth. Remove from heat and set aside.

Grilling

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Clean and oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  • Place the chicken patties on the grill and cook for approximately 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. In the last few minutes of grilling, brush the patties with BBQ sauce to enhance the flavor.
  • Place the burger buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes, until lightly toasted.

Assembly

  • Place each grilled patty on a toasted bun. Add your choice of toppings such as sliced avocado, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Drizzle with additional BBQ sauce as desired.

Serving and Storage

  • Serve the burgers hot off the grill with your favorite sides like coleslaw or potato salad. Enjoy these delightful burgers with a refreshing summer drink.
  • If there are any leftovers, store the patties and buns separately in airtight containers. They will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to maintain juiciness.
